Anyone interested in electronic music knows Michael Mayer. As a producer, DJ and remixer, as well as co-founder, co-owner and A&R of the Cologne label institution Kompakt, Mayer has been creating tasteful house, minimal and techno tracks for almost two decades. He is responsible for over 20 singles and 12" albums as well as around 170 remixes. The "Immer" and "Speicher" series as well as "Fabric 13" are legendary mix CDs. "&" is Mayer's third album after "Touch" (2004) and "Mantasy" (2012). As the title suggests, it is based on collaborations: "&" comprises a dozen tracks, and Mayer produced each one with a well-known name from the electronic dance music scene. In addition to Miss Kittin, the other participants include Joe Goddard from Hot Chip, Roman Flügel (Alter Ego), Gui Borrato, Hauschka, Prins Thomas, Barnt, Agoria, Ed Macfarlane, Kölsch, Jörg Burger as well as Reinhard and Wolfgang Voigt. Although the majority of the participants belong to the Kompakt universe or represent the "Sound of Cologne", "&" is extraordinarily multi-layered and testifies to an unbroken passion, creativity and curiosity for attractive club music.
