You Have Fallen... Congratulations!
You Have Fallen... Congratulations!' is the fifth full-length album by Portoâs noise-punk explorers Sunflowers, and their first release through UK-based Fuzz Club Records. A jagged, blown-out descent into psychological freefall, the album finds the band refining their chaotic signature while letting go of structure altogether. Itâs a record that refuses to look away from the madness of modern existence â choosing instead to laugh, scream, and contort itself into something stranger, louder, and far more unstable. The album began as a collection of demos â raw, impulsive recordings laid down without any pressure or overthinking. But when the band listened back, they realized something was already there: something vivid, imperfect, and very much alive. âThere was a tension and looseness in those early takes that we couldnât â and didnât want to â recreate in a âproperâ session,â says guitarist and vocalist Carlos de Jesus. âIt already had the soul. So we followed it, rather than trying to control it.â That instinct led to a process that was both intuitive and relentless. There was no roadmap, no template â only a commitment to capturing the noise and nerve of the moment. âSome of the best takes happened when we werenât even trying to make an album,â adds drummer and vocalist Carolina BrandĂŁo. âWe were just reacting to life â to stress, to joy, to absurdity. All of that made it in.â Across eight tracks, 'You Have Fallen... Congratulations!' pinballs between noise rock, punk, warped psych, and a sort of mangled pop sensibility. Itâs loud and sharp-edged, but with moments of eerie restraint â like falling through a trapdoor into calm, then being hurled back into chaos. Feedback wails like sirens, drums slam with tribal force, and the bass throbs like a pulse trying to keep steady. Itâs a sound thatâs constantly falling apart and reassembling in real time.
