Waiting For The Weekend
The Vapors present a 76-track deluxe 4CD clamshell box set featuring the original albums New Clear Days and Magnets, along with B-sides and single versions. The set includes 2 CDs of previously unreleased demos, rough mixes, alternative versions, and live performances, including their show at The Rainbow on 3rd December 1979.
Notably, the collection includes three songs - "Move", "Secret Noise", and "Caroline" - that have never been officially released before. The package also contains a fully illustrated 24-page booklet with rare and unseen photos, along with new annotations by Ed Piller.
Formed in 1978 and discovered by The Jamâs Bruce Foxton, The Vapors were managed by Paul Wellerâs dad, John, before signing to United Artists in 1979. Their second single, "Turning Japanese", became a massive international hit, reaching number three in the UK and number one in Australia.
The band's debut LP, New Clear Days, reached No. 44 on the UK albums chart in 1979, followed by their second album, Magnets, in early 1981. While they never quite matched the success of âTurning Japaneseâ, The Vapors built a dedicated global following before disbanding in the early 80s.
After a 35-year hiatus, the band reunited in 2016 and again in 2020 to release their third album, Together, and continue performing live. This deluxe clamshell box set, researched and mastered from the original tapes in the EMI Archives, is a comprehensive collection of The Vapors' music, including their two albums, singles, B-sides, and previously unreleased material. It also features their energetic live set from The Rainbow in December 1979.
