Tokyo 1991

Formed in London in 1977, The Police comprised drummer Stewart Copeland, guitarist Andy Summers, and frontman/bassist Sting. Emerging from the British new wave scene, they fused punk energy with reggae rhythms and pop melodies to craft a distinctive sound that came to define the late ’70s and early ’80s.

The band earned global acclaim, collecting multiple Grammy Awards, selling over 75 million records, and establishing an enduring legacy as one of the most influential bands of the era.

The Police were in the midst of their second world tour when they recorded and released Zenyatta Mondatta in 1980. The tour was an ambitious 84-date journey that began in July 1980 in England, and concluded in February 1981 in Australia.

It was a resounding success, showcasing the band at their live best, with tightly honed musicianship and electrifying performances night after night.

A highlight of the tour was the band's appearance at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan, on 2nd

February 1981. The show was recorded for local radio, and is now presented in full on this new 2LP set for the first time.
