The New Space

The New Space

Set over one apocalyptically hot summer…

Part-manifesto, part-novel: ā€˜The New Space’ recounts the story of a lone culture worker (ā€˜artist’) who – in one last desperate bid for relevance – and armed only with access to social media – declares ā€˜information war’ on the entire Culture Industry and its gatekeeper-managers -Ā  AKA - ā€˜Space Control’.

ā€œSpace Control do not like innovation: they like heavily sign-posted and transparent ā€˜lineage’ – a composite of ā€˜influences’ so close to their origin that they are almost copies. So, it’s crucial that I conjure up an aesthetic that reminds them of what they already like: ā€˜Battleship Potemkin’, ā€˜L’Atalante’, ā€˜Andrei Rublev’ - maybe even ā€˜Eraserhead’ – or, even better: something to do with Throbbing Gristle.ā€

Ā

A4 portrait (21 x 29.7cm), offset litho printed, 56 pages, black and white inners, with two colour 380gsm fluorescent/gloss cover, saddle-stitched book.
