The Name Of The Rose
When the Now & Then record label was launched back in 1992, the very first release was the debut Gary Hughes solo album. While this was basically a bunch of well recorded demos, the reaction was so positive that the label decided to put Gary in the studio and record two albums, one of ballads and the other with rockers. To create these albums, three former Dare members were brought in: Vinny Burns on guitar, Greg Morgan on drums and Martin āShellyā Shelton on bass. It quickly became obvious that something magical was happening, and the decision was quickly made to mix these 2 albums together and form a band. That band was Ten.
So, although fans generally considerĀ Name Of The Rose to be heavier than the debut X, all the songs were actually recorded at the same time with the decision about which song went on which album made by the record company and band. Both the debut and āName Of The Roseā were massive hits, each selling over 60,000 in Japan alone, where the track āName Of The Roseā was voted āSong Of the Yearā in the prestigious Japanese magazine BURRN! This new release seesĀ Name Of The RoseĀ being available on vinyl for the very first time, with the addition of several excellent bonus tracks.
