The Decca Years
Kickstarting the celebrations of Hazell Deanâs 50th Anniversary as a recording artist.
Hazell Dean - The Decca Years compiles together, for the first time ever since their original release, all of Hazellâs very first singles recorded for the Decca record label between 1975 to 1978, all of which have never previously been released on CD. Contains every A and B side from her six Decca singles fully remastered.
The collection is further complemented by a selection of four carefully curated bonus tracks including a first time on CD appearance of the one-off 1981 single by Curtis and Dean âYou Got Me Wrongâ and its B-Side âO, Thatâs Niceâ and Hazellâs second attempt at âA Song For Europeâ - a 1984 track, co-written by her, called âStay In My Life' which featured on a planned, but cancelled 7â Single - the rare B-Side of which, âToo Young For Your Loveâ, was a song solely written by Hazell, which features on CD for the first time too!
The booklet features a specially written introduction by Hazell in which she states, âMy time with Decca was magical, and I know that this will be a much loved addition to the collection of my fans all over the world.â
Years before she became âThe Queen Of Hi-NRGâ with her breakout hit single âSearchinâ in 1984, Hazell was recording a series of lush, orchestrated ballads; a deft succession of beautiful songs with sweeping strings and emotive lyrics for Decca Records, largely with the help of songwriter and producer Paul Curtis. Amid this hitherto lesser known repertoire is a studio recording of the glorious ballad, âI Couldnât Live Without You For A Dayâ, a Paul Curtis song, which Hazell sang with a live orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall in 1976 for BBC TVâs âA Song For Europeâ - Hazellâs first ever television appearance.
