Superfuckers

The legendary Hamburg punk band AbwĂ€rts is back with their new album “Superfucker.” Known for their versatile style and critical lyrics throughout their 44-year history, their latest release captures the essence of this diversity and is accompanied by concise, captivating rock and punk elements.

The musically experimental band project first appeared in 1979 as part of the GerĂ€usche fĂŒr die 80er festival series in Hamburg. AbwĂ€rts' first release was “Computerstaat,” followed by numerous singles, EPs, and albums such as their debut album “Amok Koma,” which is considered one of the best German independent productions and with which the band played a tour as the opening act for The Cure.

The band has also collaborated with Nick Launay (Nick Cave), Jon Caffery (Die Toten Hosen), and former Metallica producer Flemming Rasmussen. The cynical, sarcastic lyrics written by Frank Ziegert have been a constant theme throughout the band's career. Musically, the band has traveled a journey of genre diversity: from trash and punk to Neue Deutsche Welle, electro, metal, and rock. The band currently consists of Frank Ziegert, Rodrigo Gonzalez (Die Ärzte), Martin ‘Dog’ Kessler (Nina Hagen, H-Blocks, West Bam), and Björn Werra (Wyclef Jean, Yvonne Catterfeld).

Following the release of their last album, “Smart Bomb,” in 2018, they now have a new LP out, “Superfucker,” for which a tour is also planned in the spring. Most of the ten songs on the album were recorded in Rodrigo Gonzalez's studio.
