Something To Take Up Time

Something To Take Up Time

Not the British pub rockers! This Doctor Feelgood is a completely different band — American, obscure, and far more experimental. Their 1971 album Something to Take Up Time is a wild mix of prog rock, free jazz, blues, and psychedelia, packed with flute and sax solos in the spirit of early Jethro Tull, Gravy Train, and Aynsley Dunbar. Formed by ex-members of Teddy and the Pandas and The Sensations, the band only lasted a few years, but left behind this cult gem — full of complex arrangements and standout performances, especially from sax/flute wizard Dick Winters, who often played two horns at once. Underrated, unique, and highly recommended.
