Silence Counts for Nothing
This 10-track masterpiece is a bold reflection on the erosion of human connection in an era dominated by AI and fleeting digital exchanges. Available on limited-edition clear glass vinyl, the album promises to captivate listeners with its swirling melodies, post-punk edge, and dream-pop ambience. Silence Counts for Nothing channels the paranoia and isolation born from societyâs dwindling art of spoken conversation. The albumâs title track began as a strummed chord sequence by guitarist and composer Gary Wyatt, sparking a melody and lyrical vision from vocalist and songwriter Lucy Davies Wyatt. What started as voice notes on a phone evolved into home studio tracks before finding its final form at Hope Mill Studios in Manchester.
The track features an impressive lineup, including Simon Wolstencroft (The Fall, Ian Brown) on drums, Thomas Twemlow âTwemâ on bass and co-production, alongside Gary Wyatt on guitar and keys, and Lucy Davies Wyattâs commanding vocals. Mixed by Tomos Williams, the album is an exploration of a world where meaning gets lost in translation, and life feels increasingly sterile.
Lucigenic draws inspiration from icons like Patti Smith, Velvet Underground, Brian Jonestown Massacre, and Mazzy Star, blending their hypnotic post-punk roots with dreamy, melodic flourishes. Fronted by Lucy Davies Wyatt and Gary Wyatt, the Album features collaborations from notable figures, Mark Refoy (Spiritualized, Spacemen 3), Dave Barbarossa (Bow Wow Wow, Republica), and esteemed producers Mike Bennett (The Fall, Ian Brown) and David Tolan (Tori Amos, Charlatans).Â
