Rough Trade x Studio Arhoj - Ghost
Ghosts quietly inhabit your living space and are useful as lucky talismans, ring holders or decorative objects. Inspired by the Shinto belief that everything has a soul - even a lump of clay - each Ghost is thrown in earth dug clay and given a breath of life with a pair of ever staring eyes.
The Studio Arhoj Ghost, first introduced in 2013, is inspired by the Shinto belief that everything has a soul, even a lump of clay. Each Ghost is hand thrown, glazed and given a pair of eyes, one at a time, in our Copenhagen studio.
The Ghosts take three trips through the kilns: a bisque fire, a glaze fire and an eye fire. No two are ever exactly alike.
This edition of the Ghost, made exclusively for Rough Trade, features a hand painted black underglaze, staining the raw clay black, as well as a black top glaze and special white eyes. As this item is made of earthenware clay, we suggest keeping it dry. Â
To clean, wipe with a dry cloth.
