Pirouette / Jude
South London outfit Aināt return with their potent new single āPirouetteā.
āPirouetteā lands on the back of an incendiary year for the band. Having already played showcases for the likes of So Young, Rough Trade, The Alt Escape, and The Windmill, their first two singles āOarā and āTeethingā arrived last summer and marked out the quintet as that rarest of things - a band with a feverish word-of-mouth reputation, despite having not released a single official track, delivering on all the promise that they had built up. The tracks saw widespread support with the band landing digital cover with Dork and props from the likes of Stereogum, NME, CLASH, DIY, The Line Of Best Fit, and So Young, as well as, radio play from BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X, Apple Music 1 and more.
Bringing together the stranger side of ā90s guitar music, post-punk, and shoegaze from both sides of the Atlantic, Aināt expertly toe the line between nostalgia and ingenuity. āPirouetteā marks out the bandās opening salvo for 2025, setting the tone for what is shaping up to be another meteoric year. Recorded with Theo Verney (English Teacher, Lime Garden, Egyptian Blue), the track sees Aināt flexing their knack for complex dynamics with heavily textured, hook-led instrumentation, subtle vocal harmonies, and a combustible rhythm section.
