The None is bassist Gordon Moakes (Bloc Party, Young Legionnaire), vocalist  Kai Whyte (Blue Ruth, Youth Man), guitarist Jim Beck (Cassels) and drummer  Chris Francombe (Frauds). Â
Matter and Care brings together the band’s first two EPs – Matter and Care –  now pressed to vinyl for the first time. Previously only available on  bandcamp, the double EP is released via Zennor.
Blisteringly abrasive yet achingly melodic, these first two releases draw from  the edge of post-hardcore but push into darker, more introspective terrain –  where dissonance becomes catharsis and restraint carries its own weight. Each  song channels urgency, discomfort and beauty in equal measure. Â
Following their debut shows in February 2024, The None have quickly built a  reputation as a formidable live band.  Matter and Care expertly bottles the lightning of their live shows. Working with producer Tom Hill, they set out to  capture something raw, authentic, and honest. Â
Across the EPs, singer Kai touches on a wide range of topics, including  poverty, identity, and substance misuse. These moments of reflection are woven  together with biting social commentary and dark humour.  Following a busy schedule of live shows with the likes of Mannequin Pussy, Les  Savy Fav, Metz and The Jesus Lizard, and a rapidly sold out debut 7” single,  Matter and Care draws a line under the first phase of the band. With new  songs in the works and an album on the horizon, this release provides a  tantalising taste of what’s to come.
