Ralph Stanley cut his first recordings with the Stanley Brothers in 1947, and nearly 70 years later, Stanley is still one of the leading stars of bluegrass music as well as one of the towering figures of American roots music. Long a hero in bluegrass circles, Stanley broke through to mainstream popularity in 2000 with his striking performance of "O Death" in the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou?, and since then he's continued to record and perform, teaching new fans about the beauty and history of mountain music.

On Man of Constant Sorrow, Stanley and his latest edition of the Clinch Mountain Boys are joined by a diverse cast of vocalists who help perform a collection of bluegrass classics; guests include Robert Plant, Dierks Bentley, Ricky Skaggs, Jim Lauderdale, Gillian Welch, Buddy Miller, David Rawlings, Old Crow Medicine Show, and many more.
