As part of a Joe Strummer tribute project, living legend Don Letts has created a cover version of The Clash’s "London Calling". With the first pressing sold out, it is now being repressed with a redesigned jacket. The new design also pays homage to the US edition.Â
True to Don Letts’ spirit of constantly reinventing himself and staying active on the front lines, this is a modern, electric dub version. Contributors include former B.A.D. member Dan Donovan and dub artist Dubmatix. Also featured is Mighty Crown / Masta Simon, who joins as the introduction MC after deepening ties with Don Letts during the 2024 Don Letts Japan tour. At Don Letts’ Tokyo show in 2024, Masta Simon unexpectedly grabbed the mic during Don Letts’ DJ set and whipped the floor into a frenzy; here, he delivers an intro MC that feels like a reenactment of that night.
The jacket uses a previously unseen take of the iconic photo of Don Letts confronting a line of police—best known as the cover image for Black Market Clash, designed by graphic artist Kosuke Kawamura. This release is the first audio installment from Rebel Dread Hardware, a project that Don Letts is also part of.
