Live at BBC 1970

Established by trumpeter and future Miles Davis biographer Ian Carr, Nucleus has been a distinctly British jazz-rock group forged in London at the end of the 60s, which continued in different forms until early 90s. In those years, the group realized a torrent of concerts and live recordings for the BBC. This album presents their live session in 1970. In the same year - the group’s first year - Nucleus caused a sensation at both the Montreux and Newport jazz festivals and recorded two albums. The first one, titled “Elastic Rock”, is considered a pioneering work in the emerging genre of jazz-fusion and thanks to some of its compositions, Nucleus won the first prize at the Montreux Jazz Festival in July 1970. Therefore, this album contains many of them, such as Elastic Rock (two versions opening and closing the album), 1916: The Battle of Boogaloo, Stonescape and Twisted Track.
