Light: On The Southside
From 1975 to 1977, Chicago photographer Michael L. Abramson hit Perv's House, Pepper's Hideout, The High Chaparral, The Patio Lounge, and The Showcase Lounge, not to capture the artists on these South Side stages, but instead to pop off a half-dozen rolls every night on the crowd. The Grammy-nominated Light: On The South Side gathers 100 of Abramson's finest snaps, spread across 132 glorious hardback bound pages. Housed in a gorgeous slipcase with the 12"x12" monograph is the double vinyl set Pepper’s Jukebox, a 17-track compilation of Chicago blues in transition, as heard from both the stage and the Wurlitzer.
