Last April

Last April

Limited edition vinyl mini-album by The Declining Winter, led by Richard Adams, the co-founder of the post-rock group, Hood, who released four acclaimed albums on Domino Records in the late '90s/early '00s.

The band plays a unique form of pastoral pop taking in influences from lo-fi, electronica and post-rock with a strong visual aesthetic inspired by the countryside of Yorkshire.

Whilst their previous album, Really Early, Really Late was comparatively lush, ornate and featuring a wide array of instrumentation, Last April strips things back to just Richard Adams' voice and acoustic guitar alongside the stunning string arrangements of Sarah Kemp (Brave Timbers). Last April is a poignant memorial to Adams' late mother and evokes the melancholy "sadcore" of bands like Red House Painters, Songs: Ohia, Low.
