It’s Snowing on My Piano Live

Norwegian pianist Bugge Wesseltoft release It’s Snowing on My Piano, a live companion to his 1997 solo album on the ACT label. The new set was recorded across five concerts in cultural centers and churches in Norway, presenting material that has become a seasonal staple in Germany and Norway.

The original It’s Snowing on My Piano, one of ACT Music’s best-selling titles, introduced a quiet, reflective approach to holiday music. Wesseltoft has toured the repertoire for decades, reimagining its melodies in performance while preserving their calm core. “It’s incredible to feel the collective energy that this music and the presence of an audience in a concert hall can create together,” he said.

The project traces back to ACT founder Siggi Loch’s 1997 suggestion that Wesseltoft make a Christmas album. Initial reluctance gave way to a concept shaped by personal experience: a slow, gentle set inspired by family gatherings and songs sung around the tree. Word of mouth turned the release into an enduring favorite after a modest start.
