Issue 16 - Jazz
Just because this is The Jazz Issue doesnât mean we donât have an issue with jazz. Off Licence Magazine Issue Sixteen is not the chin-scratching issue â itâs the finger-clicking, barrier-breaking one.We take on jazz as a word, a sound, and a spirit â less about counting notes, more about movement, improvisation and community. The issue features two covers, with Venna and Kokoroko fronting each side, meeting in the middle as the magazine flips halfway through. As Kokoroko put it, this issue celebrates âWonderful Black Musicâ â expansive, joyful and alive. Inside, Offie Mag explores what jazz means now: musically, culturally and socially.Features include:VennaKokorokoEmma-Jean ThackrayTomorrowâs WarriorsAllexa NavaWith further contributions from Coco Maria, Haseeb Iqbal, Tina Edwards, and Colleen âCosmoâ Murphy, alongside photography and words from Offie Magâs in-house team and a rotating cast of new writers and image-makers.We also went to Cuba for Offie Mag Travel, which was nice.
