This is the first ever vinyl single release for Bird. "Havana Garden" gives an enticing glimpse of what is to come on her limited edition vinyl album.
Recorded partly in Austin Texas it is also the first time Bird releases a duet and not just any duet but a female duet performing with the song's co-writer Texan born and based acclaimeed singer songwriter Jane Ellen Bryant. The song itself was written on the first ever "Florence Austin Alliance song writing retreat which Bird hosted at her studio in Tuscany.
On this single Havana Garden Bird says, "I had an idea for the lyric after reading a newspaper article about a cemetary in Cuba where people go to worship miracles rather than mourn the dead...Legend has it the bodies of a woman and child buried together in the tradition of the day wth the baby at the feet of the mother had to be exhumed and on doing so they discovered the child had moved up to the mother's arms...and so now locals go in praise of love and miracles and leave offerings at the cemetary...And so Jane and I worked that story into this song.. when we wrote the final lines together I actually burst into tears and then Jane did, sometimes you get the lyric just right and it strikes something deep inside you..."
