Hair In My Eyes Like A Highland Steer
Hair In My Eyes Like A Highland Steer, a fan favorite in Corbâs catalog with features from legends Ian Tyson and Ramblinâ Jack Elliot, will finally get a wide release on vinyl for the first time since its release in 2005.
The title track, based on Corbâs childhood memories of his grandpaâs âcows with no eyes,â starts off the album with his bandâs signature, punchy swing. Saturated with family history, true stories, and nods to the old west, this record is filled with quintessential Corb Lund tracks. âThis album has been our most commercially successful, and really fanned the flames of our torrid and short lived affair with country radio and CMT. We cut it in Tennessee and itâs full of fiddles and country piano. âTruck Got Stuckâ was a big moment for us and is still a live favourite. Hair In My Eyes introduced both Brady Valgardson on the drums and Grant Siemens playing guitar, both of whom have been long time band members. We still play a ton of these songs live as the core of our showsâŠI donât focus as much on love songs as a lot of writers do,â says Lund, âAnd I find it more interesting to write tunes about whatever my brain is involved with at any given time. Could be ranch stuff or card games or home renos or starting campfires or books about 1970s politics. It all finds its way into the cauldron. I was spending a lot of time playing cards for semi-serious money during this period so thereâs some of that going on.â This limited edition release is part of the Corb Lund - Dark Horses Club.Â
