Motes are one of Bristol's hidden gems. The long running 3 piece have played only a handful of shows in recent years, but have still been slowly bubbling away and working on their craft behind the scenes. This new tape, 'escalator bill' showcases just why they are so much of a gem. A collection of instrumental tape/iphone recordings of Krautrock repetition, xylophone trembles, angular guitars and heavy but soft drumming.
I asked the band about putting a tape out a few years ago when scene hero Richard Howarth and I put the band on at Exchange on a rainy day in 2021, and I am so happy to finally be able to present this tape on the label.
