Children of the Underworld - The Complete Roadrunner Years
82-track, eight disc set from legendary Satanic death metal agitators Deicide. Featuring the bandâs entire Roadrunner Records catalogue, which includes some of the most important - not to mention best-selling - albums ever released in the death metal genre.
Includes the studio albums âDeicideâ, âLegionâ, âOnce Upon the Crossâ, âSerpents of the Lightâ, âInsineratehymnâ, âIn Torment In Hellâ as well as the demo collection âAmon: Feasting the Beastâ and the live set âWhen Satan Livesâ.
Formed in 1987 in Tampa, Florida, and eventually settling on Deicide as a band name in 1989, the addition of vocalist/bassist Glen Benton upped the controversy surrounding the band considerably.
Pushing an overtly satanic and anti-Christian message, Benton famously branded an upside-down crucifix into his forehead. After a notorious NME interview, the band were targeted by animal rights activists leading to bomb scares in Sweden and the UK. Refusing to compromise, the band baited conservatives with provocative songs such as âBehead The Prophet (No Lord Shall Live)â, âChrist Deniedâ and infamously, âKill the Christianâ.
In 2005 Deicide were featured in the BBC series Death Metal Murders, a programme seeking to connect murders in Italy with the bandâs music. As far back as 1991 in the âDancing with the Devilâ piece broadcast on Channel 4, Benton claimed to be possessed.
Both âDeicideâ and âLegionâ are officially certified among the Top Five biggest selling Death Metal records of all time in the US according to Soundscan. The band continue to record and tour to this day.
This release features extensive liner notes from respected writer Dom Lawson, including new interviews with producer Scott Burns and A&R legend Monte Conner, Akercocke drummer and Deicide superfan David Gray, as well as Cradle of Filth founding member Paul Ryan.
Exclusive to this release is a brand-new extensive interview conducted in early 2025 with Deicide drummer, songwriter and founding member Steve Asheim.
Housed in a rigid slipcase box with a debossed âTrifixionâ logo, the CDs are presented in quality card wallets and are complimented by four reproduction postcards featuring classic images of the band, together with a huge booklet that details the incredible story of one of the most notorious bands in death metal history.
