Buttercup
Buttercup, the sophomore album from English/Australian artist Mereki, was recorded in London and mixed by Grammy Award winner Paul Hicks. This special Pink colour vinyl edition of the album is a limited run and includes a 11"x22" fold-out poster.
The album features guests including Dhani Harrison, Fred Armisen, Sam Stewart (Lo Moon) and more. The follow-up to her 2023 critically acclaimed debut album, Death of A Cloud, every song on Buttercup is a diary entry directly from Mereki’s journals. Mereki undertook production duties on the album with Jerry Bernhardt & Tony Buchen, alongside engineer Luke Oldfield and Grammy Award winning audio engineer Paul Hicks, who mixed and mastered the album. However the real magic of Buttercup was created during the often live recordings at Friar Park Studios where her band, including members from up-and-coming indie outfit Long Distance Runner and award winning actor Freya Parks, laughed, cried and ate their way through every song and working hard to inject it with life and vibrancy that feels all too often lacking in modern recordings. Authenticity was at the heart of every choice made on Buttercup and can be heard through-out the lush and deeply cared for recordings.Â
