BBC Collection 77-78
At the time of their first two albums - 1977âs In The City and 1978âs This Is The Modern World - Paul Weller, Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler were frequent guests at radio sessions organized by the British public radio station. This album collects 16 performances from the period, with five tracks from the debut album, six from the successor, A-sides (âAll Around The Worldâ, âNews Of The Worldâ, ââAâ Bomb In Wardour Streetâ) and B-sides (âCarnaby Streetâ) of singles and a sneak peek from the follow-up âAll Mod Consâ (âBilly Huntâ). Incendiary performances in a style that combined punk and contemporary new wave with 60s mod beat with strong reminiscences of The Who and The Kinks, while Weller's songwriting talent was already bearing ripe fruit.
