Bananamour
A founder member of Soft Machine, Kevin embarked on a solo career in 1969, signing to EMIâs Harvest label, for whom he would record a series of wonderful and stylistically eclectic albums.
Bananamour was Kevinâs final album for Harvest during his first tenure with the label and the sessions were undertaken with a band featuring Archie Legget (bass, vocals) and Eddie Sparrow (drums), alongside Kevin. Bananamour also featured guest contributions from Robert Wyatt, Steve Hillage and Mike Ratledge.
Featuring such classic tracks as âDecadenceâ (an ode to Nico), âOh! Wot a Dreamâ (an affectionate tribute to Syd Barrett), âInterviewâ and âShouting in a Bucket Bluesâ, the album is regarded as one of Kevin Ayersâ best works.
