Miles Davis recorded Kind of Blue, Sketches of Spain, Porgy and Bess and Milestones between 1958 and 1960. This live record was taken from a concert in the Netherlands during April 1960. This must be the most influential two year period in jazz history, it was Miles Davis at his absolute peak, and you canât imagine jazz will ever reach such dizzying heights. This live record features a quintet abbreviated from the âKind Of Blueâ recordings. Coltrane needs no introduction⊠If you're unfamiliar with Paul Chambers, Jimmy Cobb, and Wynton Kelly, you need only read their credentials to realize that without this rhythm section we would lose literally hundreds of the most beloved jazz records of all time. As is the case with live jazz, this record features well known tunes played as youâve never known them, and whatever the band ate for breakfast in Scheveningen on the morning of April 9th took them up a gear. This is a very special live recording and comes pressed for its 65th anniversary on heavyweight colour edition vinyl in gatefold format.
